OtapediaMeiko Vocaloid - Nendoroid

Meiko is a Japanese Vocaloid that gained great popularity overseas. She is the fourth Vocaloid ever released and was the first-ever Japanese singing Vocaloid. Meiko’s cute anime-like appearance is accurately shrunk into a Nendoroid size: “Nendoroid Meiko.”

Nendoroid Meiko

This Meiko Nendoroid accurately recreates her dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. Her hair and eyes have been painted with care with different shades of brown to create more depth and showcase a subtle gradient in her hair color. She wears a cropped red vest with a zipper, a red skirt with a white belt, and brown boots. Meiko comes with multiple parts, including a microphone, microphone stand, and two lower-body parts so you can recreate her dynamic poses as if she is performing at a concert. The two lower body parts allow us to show her jumping in the air and her sitting down. Other accessories include a sake bottle and a faceplate with a dizzy look to recreate Meiko’s drunken look.

About Meiko

Meiko is the first-ever Japanese singing Vocaloid produced and released. She reached great fame with multiple songs reaching over a million views.

About Meiko: Background

Meiko was created by Yamaha Corporation and released by Crypton Future Media and is a Vocaloid singing synthesizer application. She was released on November 5th, 2004. She is the female counterpart to Kaito and was designed to provide vocals for professionals. In 2014 a MEIKO V3 was released.

After her first release, she quickly gained traction and was very positively received, especially by amateurs, as it provided them a way to gain vocals in the comfort of their homes. For a while, she was more popular than her counterpart Kaito. However, her popularity deteriorated as Hatsune Miku was released. She had sold over 3000 copies during a time when over 1000 copies of the software being were considered a success.

She has over 2400 songs. Two songs called Evil Food Eater Conchita, produced by Akuno-P, and Nostalgic, produced by yuukiss have reached over one million views on NicoNico. These are considered to be Meiko’s most popular songs. Her initial popularity allowed her to hold live concerts as an animated projection and other Crypton Future Media Vocaloids.

About Meiko: Abilities

Meiko’s voice is noted to be a very straightforward voice, making it a voice easy to use in any type of song. This quality of her voice is the reason for the multi-genre of her songs.

Meiko’s voice uses samples from the singer Meiko Haigo, and the Vocaloid’s name is taken from her.
