OtapediaRin Hoshizora Love Live! - Figures

Love Live! is one of the largest idol-themed multimedia franchises in Japan and as a result, the cast has a large, dedicated fanbase. Rin Hoshizora is one of the first generation idols from the original franchise idol group, μ’s. While many of the μ’s idols have diehard fans enduring the years after the franchise launch in 2010, Rin’s fans love her for her bright energy, tomboy charm, and cat-like behavior. Figures for the μ’s girls range from chibi desktop companions to scaled bishoujo statues, and Rin has been featured in a number of product lines and special edition figures. These are some of the spunkiest, yet undeniably feminine Rin figures available: “Chibi Kyun Chara Love Live! The School Idol Movie Vol. 2 - Rin Hoshizora,” “Love Live! School Idol Festival Rin Hoshizora March Ver. 1/7 Scale Figure,” and “figma Love Live! Rin Hoshizora.”

Chibi Kyun Chara Love Live! The School Idol Movie Vol. 2 - Rin Hoshizora Figure

This tiny figure from Banpresto still shows Rin in her energetic glory, even in chibi size. Rin is wearing the outfit from most of the promotional content for the Love Live! School Idol Movie. She stands mid-dance standing on one leg with the other bent. Her right arm crosses in front of her, bent as if she’s holding a microphone to her face, and her left arm extends straight out to the side. She winks at the viewer with her mouth open in a wide smile. Painting details include the cross lacing on her bodice and her deep green clover-shaped earrings. The figure also includes a stand with a yellow club motif, the μ’s tagline, and a replica of her bow.

Love Live! School Idol Festival Rin Hoshizora March Ver. 1/7 Scale Figure

Rin displays a delicate feminine elegance in this scale figure from Alter. This figure is based on her appearance in the March Flowers card in the mobile game. Rin stands with one leg raised and bent at the knee with her right hand extended out in front of her. She holds a short, flower-adorned staff in her left hand. The sculpting captures movement in the pose, with her long sleeves and short hair fluttering in an unseen breeze. The carving detail is impressive, capturing the ruffles around her sleeve cuffs and the cord detail on her bodice. However, the painting also shines with the light sakura pattern recurring throughout her outfit and pink ombre on her sleeves. The crisp lines of the pinstripes on her bows add richer detail especially when paired with the soft, layered ruffles.

figma Love Live! Rin Hoshizora Figure

This articulated figure from Max Factory’s figma line brings μ’s mood maker Rin Hoshizora to life. Rin is wearing the summer version of her Otonokizaka uniform, with short sleeves and her blue first-year bow. The figure comes with three expressions to capture Rin’s vibrant personality: a wide smile, a playful wink, and a cartoonish cat-like grin. All of the faceplates are painted with a delicate likeness to her anime design. There is also an alternate head part to display Rin with her training hairstyle. The smooth articulation allows for fans to pose Rin in a number of dynamic, cute scenarios. About Rin Hoshizora

Rin Hoshizora is a first-year student at Otonokizaka High School and eventual member of the idol group, μ’s. Like μ’s center, Honoka Kosaka, Rin is energetic, hardworking, and reluctant to do school work. Rin is easily identified by her short hair, tomboyish style, and strong love for cats. She often ends her sentences in “nya” and curls her mouth in a cat-like grin. Her longtime friendship with Hanayo Koizumi causes her to join μ’s as moral support. Rin struggles with her feminine side, as she was often teased by neighborhood boys for wearing skirts as a child. After coming to terms with her identity through performing, Rin gains confidence as a school idol. Rin bonds with the other first years in μ’s, including the aloof Maki Nishikino. She is also a member of the subunit, lily-white, showcasing her femininity and often overlooked maturity.

Other Important Love Live! Characters

Hanayo Koizumi is Rin Hoshizora’s childhood best friend and a massive idol fan. Shy and reserved, Hanayo’s interest in becoming a school idol puzzles those around her. However, Hanayo’s love for idols transforms her personality, causing her to become vibrant and enthusiastic. Over time, Hanayo comes out of her shell after gaining confidence from being in μ’s. The only thing she loves more than idols is fresh, delicious rice.

Maki Nishikino is the talented μ’s composer and seemingly mature first year of the group. From a wealthy family, Maki has trained in classical piano since early childhood. She prefers not to show emotion or attachments but is easily flustered, causing her to lash out. However, over time Maki learns to show her true emotions and bonds with the rest of μ’s as they become close friends. Maki notably exhibits childish behavior, like her belief in Santa Claus, as a result of her sheltered upbringing.
